Here are all the questions we hear often from new members when they join. If you need any other questions answered, please don’t hesitate to use the Support Centre. We advise to use the Support Centre first over PMing a member of staff, as another member may know the answer and beat staff to responding.

Q: Does Sizael require members to post in threads with a 'post order'?

A: We're not fussed here at Sizael if someone posts more than everyone else in a thread - our advice is to 'go with what feels right'. Therefore, if it feels like you should post again before someone has done the same amount of posts as you in a thread, you should. If needs be, staff can split or merge threads on request too. So in answer, no, we do not require members to follow any sort of posting order.

Q: How soon until I can make another character?

A: During your first month at Sizael, you may have two played/approved characters and two attached (aka personal) Minor NPCs. You can drop one of these characters anytime if they aren't working out for you and can replace them with another. However, if you are dropping your second character (meaning you still have one you can play), you must wait one week before creating the new secondary character. After your first thirty days and assuming your character account(s) then have thirty or more IC posts each, you can create as many as you would like to.

Q: How do I change my avatar/signature?

A: To change your avatar or your signature, find the link to your character account. Depending on which skin/look you are using, it should be near the top right of the site, near the logo. It'll say your account's name. You can hover over that to get a quick drop-down which will display the change avatar and change signature links on the left of the drop-down.

Changing your avatar is very easy. Firstly, ensure that you have it saved somewhere on your computer first as you'll need to upload it. Then, once uploaded, you'll see two previews. On the left you'll see it at it's biggest size, and nearer to where you click the, "Browse" button to upload it, there is a little preview. You can click on the little preview to drag the image around until you are satisfied with it - this is because in some areas of the skin, the avatar shows up smaller.

To change your signature, it's just like writing a post! After clicking on the signature link in the drop-down, you'll be taken to a page that will allow you to use either the rich-text editor (meaning you can click buttons to turn things into links or to insert images etc) or BBCode. To use BBCode, please click the little A/A button at the top right of the options above where you type your signature - the little button that has one little black A, and one larger blue A. If you need further help, please do not hesitate to ask in the Support Centre!

Q: How many threads can I be in, and how is time tracked?

A: Making it easier on our members, we allow characters to be in as many roleplay threads as their players can manage, using thread notes to set where it is in the timeline of the story (ready for use by hovering over the guidebook link. Time is tracked loosely around that of real life's time, and each chapter also has a regularly updated chronological order (of when set, not made) for all our threads that can be accessed in the Support Centre's Catch-Up Threads & Chronological Orders area. Our thread notes ask if the new roleplay thread is new (set after all threads made before it), following on from (continuing on a thread, either immediately after or some time after), or after (set after a specific thread, but not always acting like a follow on). If you need more help with time and thread notes, please ask in the Support Centre.

Q: How do I go about changing the storyline?

A: Start roleplaying, and be consistently active! Our story analyser watches over all the threads on Sizael, and if your character does something that might be seen by one of Havazeti’s spies, or could affect the storyline, then you may have done so! The first thing you’ll know are the consequences - we don’t warn our members if their characters have made a drastic mistake or changed the future, because we don’t get those in real life. The more active you are as a player/the more we see your character, and the more your character physically does things, the higher the chances are they are affecting the storyline! An example of such a character is Sigmus Black. Do not be afraid to purposely go out of your way to affect it! If in doubt, or if you need or would like to ask a question or ask staff for guidance, please ask in the, Affecting the Storyline Help area. You don't need to worry about other members seeing your awesome ideas, as only you and members of staff can see your threads there.

Q: How do I become a ‘Historic Character’, and what is one?

A: A Historic Character is one that has affected a storyline stronger than the others who have changed the storyline, and have been named in the Post-Play Synopsis of a chapter. By doing so, they become more influential to the storyline, and other characters who hang around them may find an easier way into affecting the storyline. Of course, the consequences for these characters can be incredibly high!

Q: I’m making a new character. Can they know a Major NPC personally?

A: The quick answer is no. You’ll need to look out for the Major NPC characters, who can pop up at any time in ‘open to all’ threads, as well as Special Events. Your character may be employed secretly by PM though. If you want your character to become one of a Major NPC’s circle of friends, you’ll need to earn it by roleplaying with them wherever possible, or using your character’s abilities to their advantage. Loudmouth wanting to work for Boxien? Be loud about wanting to be employed into the royal household. You may get some interest if you’re loud enough.

The one place where it’s a yes, is that of Knight Commander Javen and knights/paladins played by members. Though they can’t know Javen on a personal level (without some threads together), they may know him on a professional level. Knights and paladins can also assume any ‘lawful good’ orders they have could have come from Javen too, without prior permission.

Q: How do I make an animal, demon or djinni companion?

A: Head over to Character Creation and grab the template provided inside (or grab them from the Templates page after hovering over the guidebook's link in the submenu). Title it after the character they are to be paired with and what the companion’s name is, and then staff will merge it with your character’s original profile. If you're creating them at the same time as your character, it is ok to add them to the bottom of the application.

Q: How do I make an NPC?

A: To make an NPC, head over to the Active Characters area (located in World of Seno), and create a new topic either in Personal NPCs or Shared NPCs (those in the Personal section can only be played by you and others who you give permission to, whilst shared NPCs can be used by everyone). There’s a basic template provided for you in each section if you want one to use. Remember that NPCs should be a supporting role to your character or the characters in general.

Q: Do you run activity checks?

A: We rarely run activity checks, but on the few times we do, we ask for members to meet a certain amount of posts in total within a set amount of time. If a member is struggling and lets staff known, we extend the deadline for them.

Q: What is the time and date on Sizael?

A: Unless specified in a thread's notes in the first post, it is roughly set around the same time it was posted in real life. We try not to over complicate it though - preferring to just know which posts come before and after each thread chronologically instead. If you need more help regarding time, please ask in the Support Centre. You may also be in as many threads as you wish, and are responsible for checking your own character's timeline for continuity errors before jumping into new threads.

Q: Where are the templates?

A: All templates can be found on the Templates page, which can be accessed by hovering over the guidebook link and then clicking the Templates drop-down option.
