Special Events

Every now and then, a special event occurs at Sizael. These can be caused by anything - the actions or words of characters, the plans of Major NPCs, world events and chapter themes. We have a few different types, so here’s a page to explain the differences when we say things such as an Expedition Event or a Forced Situation Event!

Normal Special Events (SE)

These special events are those most often used on Sizael. Sometimes spanning multiple threads with an allowance for members to create their own, players have full control of any danger they come into contact with. Mini-events in these are caused by character reactions within the event.

Spoiler Threads

Though these could be considered 'normal' threads and take place in the usual roleplaying areas such as Caften City, these spoiler threads bring with them a higher chance to affect the storyline and often have at least one Major NPC involved. Along with increasing a character's chances to change the future by taking part, spoiler threads can also warn/hint to things to come, let you know what the Major NPCs are up to, and bring in new hooks for upcoming possible events!

Forced Situation Special Events (FSSE)

Like the normal special event, the Forced Situation Special Event can be played across multiple roleplay threads and can (but not always) allow members to create their own threads within the event. These events are dangerous - the Staff Run Special Event Planning Team (SRSEPT) can and will likely do something that forces your character to be in danger. In the Masquerade Ball back in 2010 for example, all characters were knocked out in the ballroom after a while of mingling and woke up in the Arlenien Labyrinth.

Expedition Events

An expedition is an event with a somewhat strong feel of being led by SRSEPT. Rather than letting the characters run riot like normal, the expedition event allows members to work together to describe, develop and create new areas. Often these will have objectives listed somewhere - those that need to be completed, optional objectives and those that have been completed or left unfinished. The objectives are determined by character actions though, so members can create new objectives too. For those of us who like to also earn extra awards, by completing some of the optional objectives, you can sometimes gain a limited edition award!

Annual Events

These are like the normal special events, but this time are supposed to take place yearly at a set time of year. These can often be cancelled (even mid-event) due to slow posts or lack of interest dependant on which annual event it is. At present we have the Knights’ Tournament starting on the 25 June and should also have the Lemorien Trials in September as soon as Lemora is open.

Unavoidable Events

These are in essence mini-events that can take place in forced situation special events, but on rare occasion sometimes normal special events and annual events too. These usually comprise of a post (or a few posts) by SRSEPT with an event or situation that is unavoidable for the played characters in that thread.

All In Days

All In Days happen roughly two to seven times a year and see our members all try to get online at an arranged time despite timezone differences. Then with a secondary shoutbox, a live roleplaying session takes place!
