| The Just Approved & Getting Active Guide: What Now?Last Updated: 5th September 2012.See an error? Report it here. IntroductionCongratulations for getting your character approved! Hopefully it wasn’t too hard, and if so, please let us know! Enough of the original profile talk though! Not sure where to start now? This guide will help you wet your feet, and for the older members, a checklist to getting roleplay threads!Make ConnectionsCharacters need to make character relations if their players hope to have some (very) interesting threads and personal developments. If you haven’t already, check out the Who Plays Whom List, our list of active members and their characters. By getting to know who plays which characters, you’ll know who to talk to about some threading possibilities and by interacting with the characters here at Sizael, you’ll open up avenues into the storyline. For example, getting close to a member of the Resistance against Queen Havazeti will likely get your character invited to join the group, or worse, you can betray them!Introduce Yourself & Your CharacterIntroductions may be a little tricky, but they’re great for meeting the other members and their characters. It can also be a kickstart to getting your first in-character thread. Head over to Introduction and quickly introduce yourself and your character. If you’re not sure what to put, why not tell us which area of the world you are in (for example, England, America and Singapore), how you found Sizael and what attracted you to the game, what your character is like and what you would like to roleplay in your first in-character thread. And don’t worry, members will reply!Create A Roleplay Thread & Request Others JoinOne of the easiest ways to get your character involved is to start a new roleplay thread in one of the roleplay areas and to promote it to other members. Think of it as your character’s introduction to the other ones currently inhabiting the World of Seno. That doesn’t mean you must do a thread in which your character arrives at Caften City for the first time, or after a long absence - why not set a scene, in which something is already happening and your character is involved. Perhaps a shouting match with an Anubian who called your character a ‘Narad Coral’ after he pickpocketed your character. There's a few different ways to promote a roleplay thread and encourage members to join in, such as:
Invite Others to Roleplay with YouA surefire way to get others taking part in threads you’re interested in playing, or have started, is to message other members. Let them know about the roleplay thread and what you’re planning on having your character do in the thread (if you know), and ask them if they would like to join. Sometimes, you’ll need to help them figure out a way into the thread - plot with each other as to how to get your two characters interacting, either because of an event in the thread, or because of something one of the characters will do in their intro post in the roleplay thread.Joining Already Started Open ThreadsNot only do you have the option to create your own, but you also have the option to join in those that are already in progress that are ‘open to all’. When doing this, make sure to read all the posts that have taken place before you carefully, so you can introduce your character without upsetting anything that has happened previously in the thread. Also, check the room. Is there room for your character to join in? As open to all thread progresses, it can become a one-on-one, or three-head thread (and so on). If your character’s arrival would upset the thread, PM the thread starter and let them know you are interested in joining that thread, if it is possible. They may say it isn’t, but if they say it is, they might have some ideas for you to help you join in. We suggest not joining threads that are a week stale or that already have five or six reply posts.CommunicateThroughout your time here on Sizael, don’t be a stranger. The key to happy roleplaying is (usually) communication. Some players may like to simply post one after the other without communicating while others may talk at length about their threads, but that doesn’t mean you need to be a stranger! Pop into the out of character areas and start up discussions, chat with others by PM and don’t forget to welcome others and take part in the Workshop discussions! Good luck!Get HelpIf you get stuck at any time about anything, fire a PM to a member of staff or ask for help in the Support Centre. Our staff do their best to respond in twenty-four hours (and have alerts sent to our phones too). If you’re stuck in a roleplay thread, try posting a thread discussion in Sizaeling Core, so other members can help you, or even jump into a thread to help. |
